Job summary

SSEN Transmission in Scotland is seeking a Substation Project Engineer to join our Offshore AC Project Engineering team and drive Island projects for Net Zero. You will help deliver a network for clean, secure power and interface with HVDC/AC systems.

Key duties include outlining scope, site plans, LV/SLD diagrams up to 400kV, reviewing designs, and enforcing safety by design while supporting site teams to ensure installation quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in transmission level substation projects and ability to review designs and assess technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving attitude with the ability to prioritise tasks.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer status preferred or working towards accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Create outline scope, site location plans and 400kV+ substation layouts and diagrams.
• Review contractor and consultant designs and witness Factory Acceptance Tests.
• Support safety by design and ensure quality of installations with minimal network risk.
• Evaluate tenders and manage specialist services from consultants.
