Job summary

National Grid plc in the United Kingdom is seeking an engineering trainee who will progress to Senior Authorised Person (SAP). You’ll start with a training programme on-site and in the classroom, spending around 24 months building hands-on skills and safety authorisations required for the SAP role.

As you qualify, you’ll move into the SAP position with a base salary rise and a SAP allowance of £5,000 per year; standby, on-call duties, and responsible leadership of teams on high-voltage projects

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical Engineering required.
• Industrial engineering skills including installations, breakdown, repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and produce risk assessments and method statements.
• Ability to use test equipment and interpret maintenance results.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Substation and high voltage experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience advantageous.
• NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of fitters and contractors on high voltage substation projects.
• Perform risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks on site.
• Manage safety critical works and monitor progress of projects.
