Job summary

National Grid is recruiting for an engineering pathway that starts with a 24-month training programme on-site and in classroom, progressing to a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) role with a £5,000 SAP allowance. As Substation Engineer SAP, you will lead teams on high voltage projects, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate safety practices, including toolbox talks and site deliveries.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical Engineering.
• Practical industrial engineering experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Experience producing risk assessments and method statements.
• Willingness to attend training at Eakring site and other locations.
• Live within 45 minutes of Pentir, LL57 4DY.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams of fitters and contractors on high voltage substation projects.
• Ensure safe working practices with risk assessments and method statements.
• Deliver on-site and classroom training during the initial 24-month programme.
• Provide standby availability for emergencies and site delivery coordination.
