Job summary

Rolls-Royce in the UK is seeking a Lifecycle Engineer to join the Platform Engineering Team. Based in Bristol/Cardiff, you will investigate maintenance requirements, model through-life performance, and help optimise safety, reliability and costs for submarine platforms.

You will provide technical data, lead health monitoring integration, collaborate with MoD partners, and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting design and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Engineering or numerical degree with relevant experience.
• Experience with UK Submarines Enterprise (e.g. Navy, MOD).
• Knowledge of components/systems functionality and numerical methods.
• Experience in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and report writing.
• Safety Case experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to resolve technical queries and operational arisings.
• Lead Investigation of operational issues to establish root cause
• Predict future safety and reliability performance based on failure rates, adopting statistical techniques to support Numerial Risk Assessment, Parametric Distribution and fly forward analysis.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing and maintaining life cycle engineering policies and any associated maintenance planning documentation.
• Manage any issues that effect the Maturity, Lifecycle Cost, Reliability and Maintainability and maintain Design Intent.
• Provide lifecycle technical data (build/in-service/decommisioning) and model/support modelling of through life performance, deterioration mechanisms and service attributes to create and maintain time on platform prediction, identify opportunities for optimization and support the generation of the Service Operation Validation Strategy.
• Prepare and deliver technical communications (e.g. presentation and/or reports) to platform provider, regulators, customers, internal stakeholder.
• Lead and integrate Health Monitoring system requirements.
• Identify requirements for new Health Monitoring System or capability.
• Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders. Where delegated, act as the Technical Authority providing assurance on build, commissioning and maintenance activities.
• Gather in-service data and carry out continuous improvement by identifying Best Practice and Learning from Experience activities, feeding back into future programmes and product design teams.
