Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Lifecycle Engineer to join the Platform Engineering Team in the Bristol/Cardiff area. You will conduct maintenance requirement investigations and identify optimisation opportunities to reduce maintenance volume and improve platform availability.

The role involves technical support, root-cause investigations, and use of statistical methods to forecast safety and reliability, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in UK Submarines Enterprise or equivalent.
• Engineering or numerical degree required.
• Knowledge of components/systems functionality and numerical methods.
• Experience with complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous.
• Familiarity with in-service operation, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Experience in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Experience in cross-functional teams (suppliers, customers, partners).
• Experience developing and challenging maintenance requirements.
• Safety Case experience.
• Investigative/Questioning mindset.
• Experience with Azure DevOps.
• Report writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to resolve technical queries and operational arisings.
• Lead investigation of operational issues to establish root cause.
• Predict future safety and reliability performance using failure rates and statistical methods.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing maintenance policies and docs.
• Manage issues affecting maturity, lifecycle cost, reliability and maintainability.
• Provide lifecycle technical data and model through life performance.
• Prepare and deliver technical communications to stakeholders.
• Lead and integrate Health Monitoring system requirements.
• Identify requirements for new Health Monitoring System or capability.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Gather in-service data and drive continuous improvement.
