Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking an Optimisation Engineer to support maintenance requirement investigations for the MoD on Bristol/Cardiff sites. You will lead root-cause analyses, apply numerical methods to predict reliability, and identify opportunities to optimise through-life maintenance and costs.

The role requires an engineering or numerical degree, familiarity with in-service environments, and experience in cross-functional teams. Security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Experience within the UK Submarines Enterprise (e.g. Navy, MOD, Prime Industry Partner etc).
• Engineering or Numerical degree (or equivalent with experience).
• Knowledge of components/ systems functionality and numerical methods.
• Experience of working on complex tasks that are novel and ambiguous.
• Familiarity with in-service operation environment, regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Experience in troubleshooting and/or problem resolution.
• Experience in supporting/leading cross-functional teams (specialists, suppliers, customers, partners).
• Experience developing and challenging maintenance requirements.
• Safety Case experience.
• Investigative mindset; Experience with Azure DevOps; Report writing.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to resolve queries and operational arisings.
• Lead investigation of operational issues to establish root cause.
• Assess failure rates; apply statistical methods for risk and fly-forward analysis.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing maintenance planning.
• Ensure lifecycle cost, reliability and maintainability goals are met.
• Deliver lifecycle data and models to support through-life performance.
• Prepare technical communications for stakeholders and regulators.
• Lead health monitoring system requirements.
