Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking a freelance Sub-Agent - Civils for an Edinburgh-area project. Immediate start on a 2–3 month contract with Monday–Friday hours, 8:00am–4:00pm. Freelance Sub-Agent - Civils

We are currently looking for an experienced Sub-Agent to join a well-established civils team working on an ongoing infrastructure maintenance contract.

The role is initially expected to run for 2-3 months, with the potential for further opportunities depending on project requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sub-Agent looking for an immediate freelance assignment.

The Role

You will be involved in the delivery and supervision of a range of small-scale concrete and civil engineering works.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supervising and coordinating day-to-day civils and concrete works.
• Managing subcontractors and site activities to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
• Reading and working from drawings, specifications and project information.
• Coordinating with engineers, site teams and project management.
• Monitoring progress and ensuring works are delivered to the required standard.
• Maintaining accurate site records and documentation.
• Assisting with planning, sequencing and coordination of works.
• Identifying and resolving issues on site.
• Ensuring works are completed in line with programme requirements.

The standard working hours are 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday to Friday. The ability and willingness to undertake the occasional night shift would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

Requirements

The client is primarily looking for someone with:

• A valid CSCS card.
• A civil engineering qualification, ideally HNC level or equivalent.
• Previous experience working as a Sub-Agent or in a similar civils role.
• Practical experience working on civil engineering/construction projects.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• The confidence to take responsibility for works and site activities.
• SMSTS, First Aid and additional training are not essential, as these can be arranged if required.
