Job description

Site Agent - Civil Engineering

Location: West of Scotland / Projects Across Scotland

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Ready to take the next step in your civil engineering career?

If you've built your career from Site Engineer through to Section Engineer or Sub Agent and are now ready to step into a Site Agent position, this could be an excellent opportunity to take on greater responsibility across a strong pipeline of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

With a growing workload across Scotland, particularly within the West of Scotland, this is a chance to join an established team delivering a range of significant infrastructure schemes.

The Role

As Site Agent, you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of projects, working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team.

You’ll take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management of works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially and to the required quality standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing site teams through the delivery lifecycle
  • Leading health & safety implementation and ensuring compliance
  • Managing programmes, risks and opportunities
  • Coordinating engineering, design and construction activities
  • Managing subcontractors, materials, plant and resources
  • Supporting monthly cost and value reporting
  • Managing change and identifying value engineering opportunities
  • Ensuring quality processes and engineering standards are maintained
  • Preparing and reviewing RAMS, CPPs, WPPs, task briefings and permits
  • Managing temporary works and supporting TWC/TWS activities
  • Liaising with clients, consultants and key stakeholders
  • Attending pre‑start, progress and contract meetings
  • Ensuring effective project reporting and document control
  • Supporting the production of handover and completion documentation
Why Consider It?

This is more than simply another Site Agent position. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work alongside experienced construction professionals and continue developing your career within a business with a strong pipeline of civil engineering work.

The current workload is particularly focused across the West of Scotland, including major infrastructure frameworks around Clydeport and Faslane, meaning regular overnight stays are not expected. There may be occasional travel and accommodation requirements depending on the project and programme.

The package includes:
  • £50,000 - £60,000 salary
  • Company car or car allowance
  • 26 days annual leave + 9 bank/public holidays
  • Company pension with employer contributions and matching options
  • Health cash plan with up to £150 annual reimbursement
  • Option to purchase up to 5 additional days' leave
  • Life assurance / death in service
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
  • Car lease scheme
  • Employee discount platform and salary sacrifice benefits
  • Training and career development opportunities
  • Flexible/agile working arrangements where appropriate
What We’re Looking For

We’re particularly interested in civil engineering professionals who have progressed through a traditional delivery route, such as:

Site Engineer → Section Engineer → Sub Agent → Site Agent

You should have experience within civil engineering and infrastructure, ideally gained with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong civil engineering and infrastructure experience
  • Experience across areas such as structures, earthworks, drainage, utilities or roads
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM, programme, risk and cost management
  • Experience managing site teams and subcontractors
  • HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering
  • Valid CSCS Manager's Card
  • SMSTS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • TWC/TWS experience or awareness
  • CRE experience/mentorship would be advantageous
  • Experience delivering multi-disciplinary projects up to approximately £10m would also be beneficial.

Ready for the next step?

If you're currently a Sub Agent or experienced Section Engineer and feel ready to step into a Site Agent role, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
