Job summary

VolkerWessels UK Ltd, via VolkerStevin, is seeking a Sub Agent to join our team and take ownership of key work packages on a major National Grid substation project. You will lead site teams, coordinate with design and construction parties and ensure delivery in a live environment.

We’re looking for a proactive civil engineering professional with experience on large infrastructure projects, SMSTS, CSCS, and strong RAMS/ITP management skills. Flexible working options available.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Proven experience as Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or similar role on major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• SMSTS certification, CSCS or EUSR CSCS management card, Temporary Works Supervisor competence, First Aid at Work qualification.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key work packages on a major National Grid substation project.
• Lead teams to achieve safety, quality and schedule targets.

As our portfolio continues to grow, we're looking for a motivated Sub Agent to join our team and help deliver a major National Grid substation project. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key work packages on high-profile schemes that will help power communities and businesses for generations to come.

About you

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys leading teams to achieve exceptional results.

You’ll bring:

• A Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Proven experience as a Sub Agent, Senior Engineer or similar role within major infrastructure, utilities or energy projects.
• SMSTS certification.
• Relevant CSCS or EUSR CSCS management card.
• Temporary Works Supervisor competence.
• First Aid at Work qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong experience managing programmes, RAMS, ITPs, subcontractors and project change.

It would be advantageous if you also have:

• Experience working on National Grid or high-voltage substation projects.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and compensation event processes.
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
• Experience managing lifting operations.
• Experience delivering projects within live operational environments and planned outage programmes.
