Job summary

University of Birmingham in Birmingham is seeking a Wellbeing Officer to provide wellbeing and education support across a School and College. The role focuses on early intervention, signposting to services, and managing a busy caseload to safeguard student wellbeing.

You will work within the College of Medicine and Health, ensuring compliant practices and effective communication with staff and students about wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Experience in wellbeing or educational settings.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Data analysis skills for student wellbeing trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate, accurate and expert wellbeing advice to students.
  • Act as first point of contact for wellbeing needs and signpost to services.
  • Offer regular opportunities for students to engage with wellbeing services.
  • Manage high volumes of wellbeing emails and case notes with triaged responses.
  • Maintain records and statistics to inform proactive wellbeing actions.
  • Identify at-risk students and escalate where appropriate to safeguard processes.
  • Prepare cases for Extenuating Circumstances Panels and related processes.
  • Ensure compliance with professional or accredited programmes within the department.
  • Inform staff of changes in practice and policy relating to student wellbeing.
  • Support attendance and diligence processes for wellbeing identification.
  • Assist with induction, Welcome Week, and other student experience activities.
  • Develop communications about student wellbeing for students and staff.
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within wellbeing practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed by line manager.
