Job summary

University College Birmingham is seeking a compassionate Pastoral Support Officer to join our Safeguarding Team in Birmingham. The role focuses on early intervention and targeted pastoral support for students facing safeguarding or welfare concerns to prevent escalation.

You will manage a caseload, deliver 1:1 interventions and work with families, social workers and agencies to support Looked After Children, care-experienced students, young carers and young parents.

Qualifications

  • Safeguarding awareness and experience supporting young people.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and deliver targeted 1:1 pastoral interventions.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and multi-agency working skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide early intervention and targeted pastoral support to students with safeguarding or welfare concerns.
  • Manage a caseload and deliver focused 1:1 interventions.
  • Develop action plans and help students re-engage with their studies.
  • Deliver workshops, tutorial sessions and wellbeing activities across the institution.
