Job summary

The King Alfred School is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to work across the school, supporting pastoral leads and Heads of Year to foster a safe, inclusive learning environment. You will respond to student concerns, support attendance and wellbeing, and liaise with parents and external agencies, contributing to positive behaviour and confidential record-keeping.

You will be a visible presence, assist in safeguarding, and collaborate with staff to maintain a calm, caring school

Qualifications

• Good standard of education including Maths and English.
• Strong IT skills with databases and general software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection; confidentiality.
• First Aid qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing student concerns and providing tailored support under lead staff guidance.
• Maintain a visible presence during social times and support teaching colleagues.
• Communicate with parents, carers and external agencies to support wellbeing.
• Keep confidential records, attend intervention meetings and support pastoral processes.
