Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Assistant for a secondary school in Harrow. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm, with an ASAP start.

You will support wellbeing, personal development and pastoral needs of students across KS3 and KS4. Whether a graduate or experienced in education, youth work, mentoring, counselling or SEN, you will build positive relationships and provide one-to-one or small-group mentoring to boost attendance, engagement and

Qualifications

• Ideally educated to degree level and/or experienced working with teenagers.
• Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, tutoring, SEN or pastoral support is desirable.
• Experience supporting students with additional needs such as ADHD, Autism, dyslexia or SEMH is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students.
• Support students with their wellbeing, behaviour and personal development.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring and support.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and engagement.
• Support students with attendance, punctuality and behaviour.
• Encourage confidence, independence, resilience and positive decision-making.
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN staff and families where appropriate.
• Identify concerns and communicate them to the appropriate members of staff.
• Help create a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment.
