Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated Student Wellbeing Mentors to work within specialist schools and alternative provisions across Chorley and Skelmersdale.

The role supports pupils facing social, emotional, mental health, or behavioural challenges, helping them build confidence, resilience and engagement with education.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Patience, compassion, and resilience.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for supporting emotional wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to students throughout the school day.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to promote confidence and self-esteem.
  • Work with pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Support students in managing emotions, behaviour and social interactions.
  • Encourage engagement with learning and participation in school life.
  • Act as a positive role model promoting resilience and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
  • Help create a safe, supportive learning environment.

Student Wellbeing Mentor

Location: Chorley & Skelmersdale
Role Type: Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available
Start Date: October 2026
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking dedicated Student Wellbeing Mentors to work within specialist schools and alternative provisions across Chorley and Skelmersdale.

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who may face social, emotional, mental health, or behavioural challenges. You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and engagement with their education.

As a Student Wellbeing Mentor, you will:
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to students throughout the school day.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem.
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Support students in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions.
  • Encourage engagement with learning and participation in school life.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.
We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Are patient, compassionate, and resilient.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Are passionate about supporting emotional wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Have experience in education, youth work, support work, care, mental health services, sports coaching, or similar fields (desirable).
  • Full-time and part-time roles available.
