Job summary

Teaching Personnel in the United Kingdom is seeking a compassionate Young Person's Mentor to support vulnerable students inside and outside the classroom. You will build positive relationships, encourage engagement, and provide the guidance they need to succeed at school.

Working 11:00am–3:00pm, Monday to Friday during term time, this full‑time role offers ongoing training, dedicated support from an education recruitment team, and potential progression into mentoring, teaching, pastoral support,

Responsibilities

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Supporting students one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Helping students remain engaged with learning during the school day.
  • Acting as a positive role model and promoting confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Collaborating with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support.
  • Recording progress and contributing to strategies to help students achieve goals.

Location: Buntingford, Hertfordshire
Pay: £57 - £68 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday | 11:00am - 3:00pm | Term Time Only
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic Young Person's Mentor to support vulnerable young people who require additional guidance both inside and outside the classroom. Every day is different, and every conversation has the potential to change a young person's future.

As a Young Person's Mentor, you'll work closely with students who may face social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs. Your role will be to build positive relationships, encourage engagement, and provide the support they need to succeed in school.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Helping students remain engaged with learning throughout the school day.
  • Acting as a positive role model and promoting confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support.
  • Recording progress and contributing to strategies that help students achieve their goals.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient.
  • Can build strong relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Remains calm under pressure and approaches challenges positively.
  • Has experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential).
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
