Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Assistants to work across SEMH schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale. This full-time role starts ASAP following vetting, offering a competitive daily rate dependant on experience.

Ideal candidates are resilient, compassionate, and able to support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs within education settings. You will work with teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence, resilience, and personal development.
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and within small group settings.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and senior leaders to provide consistent support.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Chorley & Skelmersdale
Position Type: Full-Time
Start Date: ASAP (Following Successful Vetting and Compliance Checks)
Pay: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Assistants to work across a variety of specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools in Chorley and Skelmersdale.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are resilient, compassionate, and committed to supporting children and young people who may display challenging behaviour or require additional emotional support to access education successfully.

As an Emotional Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques.

We are looking for individuals who:
  • Have experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals.
  • Have a calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Are confident managing challenging behaviour in a professional manner.
  • Have experience in education, care, youth work, coaching, support work, or similar settings (desirable).
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Are passionate about supporting pupils with additional emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
