CHS South, part of Prospere Learning Trust, is seeking an Assistant Pastoral Leader to support a year group with attendance, behaviour and wellbeing. You will work with families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning and promote safe, respectful conduct within a strong learning environment.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, mentoring and data-driven pupil welfare, with a focus on collaborative approaches to meet each pupil’s needs and sustain high standards across the school.

Qualifications

• Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2.
• Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.
• Understanding of the role of support staff and other professionals in helping students fulfil their potential.
• Flexible, proactive and positive approach.
• Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and continuous professional development.
• Ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgement and respond appropriately to challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide an identified year group of students with outstanding support and guidance, enabling them to thrive and succeed.
• Address attendance, behaviour, pastoral and welfare concerns and help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
• Work collaboratively with school staff, families and external agencies to support student wellbeing.
• Help provide accurate attendance, punctuality, behaviour and other pastoral information to governors, leaders and staff.
• Maintain a high profile around the school and promote high standards of behaviour, uniform and equipment.
• Offer practical support, mentoring and guidance to students.
• Liaise constructively with parents and carers to support attendance, learning and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and data analysis.
• Take a lead role in supervising pupils and maintaining a positive learning environment with high expectations.
• Support whole-class cover, break and lunchtime duties, on‑call arrangements, detentions and strategic behaviour interventions.
• Contribute to safeguarding and the protection of all pupils.
