Job summary

CVS Vets is seeking a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) to join Ambivet Veterinary Centre across multiple sites. The role supports RVNs and Vets in delivering high standards of care while working with a friendly team.

The position spans 40 hours per week on a varied Monday–Friday pattern, with weekend and bank holiday rota involvement. Applicants should have GCSEs at C/4 or above including English, Maths and Science, plus an ANA or VCA qualification.

Qualifications

• GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English, Maths and a Science subject
• An ANA or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification and functional skills level two in AON/Maths/Communication
• Full UK driving licence and ability to work across multiple sites

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients
• Assist Vets and Nurses in animal restraint during treatments
• Clean, walk, and feed patients
• Prepare emergency and operating facilities
• Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties
• Run internal lab samples
• Answer emergency calls
• Cover the receptionist desk and handle queries, appointments and payments

About the Role:

As a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN), you will play a critical role in our outstanding veterinary practice. You'll support our team of qualified RVNs and Vets in delivering exceptional care to our patients, all while working alongside a fantastic team.

Here's what you will be doing:

• Provide nursing care to patients
• Assist Vets and Nurses in animal restraint during treatments

• Answer emergency calls
• Cover the receptionist desk, including handling queries, booking appointments, and processing payments

Who We're Looking For:

• Excellent communication skills with strong empathy
• Superior customer service abilities with experience in public interactions
• Background in animal welfare is essential, including feeding, cleaning, medicating, and handling, with a deep understanding of animal welfare needs
• Experience in a veterinary environment is highly desirable
• A Full UK driving licence is needed as you will working across multiple sites
• Resilience and the capacity to handle distressing and emotional situations
• Positive attitude and stellar teamwork skills

RequiredQualifications for college enrolment:

• Five GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English, Maths, and a Science subject
  OR
• An animal nursing assistant (ANA) or veterinary care assistant (VCA) qualification, plus functional skills level two in Application of Number and Communication
