Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting a caring Student Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Wellingborough. This full-time term-time role supports students with academic, emotional, or behavioural needs to stay engaged and reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in school, youth work, care, coaching, mentoring, or similar.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
• Ability to build trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students who require additional guidance.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, confidence, and achievement.
• Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs both inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist with behaviour management and the implementation of support plans.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to support student progress.
• Promote positive attitudes towards learning, attendance, and personal development.
• Monitor student wellbeing and report any concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
