Job summary

Teaching Vacancies is seeking a dedicated Student Support Mentor to work within our school team in Nottingham. You will mentor students, track attendance, and develop engaging learning materials to boost engagement and achievement.

You will collaborate with pastoral staff, maintain records, and contribute to safeguarding and inclusion initiatives, supporting families and driving positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering student support or mentoring in an educational setting.
• Ability to plan engaging learning activities for diverse cohorts.
• Familiarity with safeguarding, health, safety and data protection policies.
• Experience keeping pupil records and progression plans.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the duties of a Student Support Mentor determined by the School and with regard to the LA/DFE guidelines.
• Keep an attendance register for every session and follow up absences.
• Plan to maximise engagement from disaffected students.
• Prepare and develop coaching and learning support materials.
• Contribute to the departmental team.
• Keep appropriate records and plans.
• Participate in all appropriate meetings.
• Mentor a group of students through a planned programme of activity.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress using data and tailor interventions.
• Develop contact with families to keep them informed of needs and progress.
• Develop action plans for students as requested.
• Follow weekly timetables to accommodate cohorts.
• Use strategies to enhance academic progress, confidence and self-esteem.
• Be aware of and comply with safeguarding and related policies, reporting concerns as required.
• Contribute to the school's aims.
• Undertake other duties within scope of post.
