Job summary

Carmel College is seeking a Personal Achievement Tutor to lead pastoral support for up to 9 tutor groups and to guide students through academic progress, attendance, welfare, and safeguarding processes. The role includes supporting UCAS applications and providing targeted 1:1 interviews throughout the year.

The post is fixed term, full time, based in St Helens, England with duties aligned to the College’s 10:10 tutorial programme and Year 12 Careers and HE activities.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for up to 9 tutor groups per annum.
• Register tutor groups on time and accurately.
• Support tutees within these groups to achieve their full potential.
• Track and monitor the academic progress of tutees against minimum expected grades and intervene if at risk.
• Monitor tutee attendance and punctuality and intervene as needed.
• Monitor tutee welfare and well-being and refer safeguarding concerns when necessary.
• Maintain accurate student records on Cedar.
• Deliver group tutorials within the College's 10:10 tutorial programme.
• Support the Year 12 Careers and Higher Education programme including HE Week and Careers Fair.
• Provide at least three 1:1 interviews with each tutee during the year to monitor attendance, progress and conduct.
• Assist tutees with UCAS applications, check Personal Statements, and write UCAS references as required.
• Provide job references for tutees as required.
• Attend mandatory meetings and training and support wider College activities such as Open Evenings.
