Job summary

Kirklees Council is seeking a Student Services Officer based in Huddersfield, delivering a welcoming frontline service to students and providing guidance on financial support, wellbeing and college services. You will assess Learner Support Funds, triage needs, and ensure compliant record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent ability.
• Demonstrable experience in Customer Service and IT.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with young people.
• Excellent keyboard skills and extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline support and advice to students across a range of services.
• Assess and administer Learner Support Funds.
• Triage student needs and make referrals to internal and external support services.
• Respond to sensitive or complex situations, including safeguarding concerns.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with ESFA, audit and GDPR requirements.
• Support the management of student support budgets.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to improve student support services.
