Job summary

Kirklees College is seeking a motivated Student Community Development Officer to plan and deliver an engaging cross-college enrichment and personal development program. You will foster student wellbeing, voice and employability, strengthening Students’ Union activity across the College.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C).
• Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a vibrant calendar of enrichment, wellbeing, social action, volunteering and personal development activities that respond to student needs and interests.
• Work with colleagues and external partners to create inclusive activities that are accessible to all students, including students with SEND, maximising progression into employment.
• You will bring experience of working with young people in an education, community or youth work setting, and be able to motivate participation across a diverse student community.
• Promote positive behaviour and support planning, group sessions and events.
• You will support safeguarding and promoting welfare of students across the College.
