Job summary

The Milton Keynes Academy is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to ensure every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive. You will work with staff, families and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes for young people, with a strong focus on safeguarding responsibilities and confidential record-keeping.

The ideal candidate will have experience with young people in education or related settings, a solid understanding of safeguarding legislation, and excellent communication

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in education, social care, youth work or a similar setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection legislation, procedures and best practice.
• Experience supporting vulnerable or disadvantaged children and young people.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents/carers, colleagues and external agencies.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate, confidential records.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in handling sensitive information appropriately.
• Experience of managing difficult conversations and de-escalating challenging situations.
• A proactive, resilient and solution-focused approach to supporting students and families.
• A friendly, approachable manner combined with tact, patience and professionalism.
• A genuine commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and student welfare.
