Job summary

East Kent Colleges Group is seeking a proactive Student Progression Mentor to support students in their personal and academic development and help them become independent learners.

You will also support disaffected and disengaged students, optimise learning opportunities, and contribute to safeguarding and welfare duties. The role offers development opportunities including Mental Health First Aid, Autism Awareness, Counselling Concepts and safeguarding training.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to supporting students' development.
  • Ability to deal effectively with students, external agencies, parents and colleagues.
  • Strong record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting young people, including those with mental health needs, is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support students in personal and academic development to become independent learners.
  • Assist disaffected and disengaged students to maximise learning opportunities.
  • Record and report contact details and progress to relevant staff/departments.
  • Be empathetic, supportive and non-judgmental; adaptable to changing tasks.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and welfare duties as required.
