Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate Family Liaison Officer for a thriving secondary school in Tendring, Essex. You will act as a vital link between home and school, supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning and improving wellbeing.

You will work with attendance, safeguarding, pastoral, and SEND teams, conduct home visits when appropriate, and coordinate with external agencies to secure additional support, driving higher engagement and achievement.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people, or families in educational, community, health, or social care settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships.
• Caring, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload.
• Understanding of safeguarding practices and related challenges.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong, positive relationships with students and their families.
• Provide support and guidance to families facing challenges affecting wellbeing, attendance or progress.
• Collaborate with attendance, safeguarding, pastoral and SEND teams to address barriers to learning.
• Conduct home visits where appropriate and maintain effective communication with families.
• Coordinate with external agencies and support services to arrange interventions.
• Promote parental engagement and strengthen home–school partnerships.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and welfare procedures.
