Job summary

Academics in Chippenham is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join the school’s support and pastoral team from September 2026. The role focuses on mentoring children to improve emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with learning, both in class and in the wider school environment.

You will build strong relationships, understand factors behind behaviour, and help develop practical strategies for managing challenges.

Qualifications

• Compassionate and emotionally aware
• Experience working with children is advantageous
• Graduates with transferable skills welcome to apply
• Able to maintain professional boundaries and safeguarding standards

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small-group mentoring for children with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
• Establish positive relationships based on trust, consistency, and clear boundaries.
• Help children recognise emotions, triggers and develop coping strategies.
• Support children to manage conflict, anxiety, and challenging behaviours.
• Assist re-engagement with lessons after difficulties or disengagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff, pastoral teams and school leaders to monitor progress.
