Job summary

Academics in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral and inclusion team from September 2026. You will support children who may need extra help to feel understood, calm, and ready to engage with learning.

Qualifications

• Patient and emotionally resilient with the ability to build positive relationships with children.
• Experience working with children is beneficial but not essential.
• Background in education, childcare, youth work, sports coaching, care, mentoring or similar environments is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to children on a one-to-one or small-group basis.
• Help children develop strategies to manage anger, anxiety, and strong emotions.
• Encourage children to communicate their feelings and needs in appropriate ways.
• Support children to return to lessons and learning after disengagement.
• Maintain accurate records and share relevant information with staff.
• Promote a calm, respectful and inclusive atmosphere throughout the school.
