Job summary

John Smeaton Academy is seeking an Attendance Officer to join our pastoral team, driving attendance and punctuality to help every student reach their potential.

You will work with students, families and external agencies to identify barriers to attendance, monitor data, and implement targeted interventions. A proactive, compassionate approach and commitment to safeguarding are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people and supporting them to overcome barriers to success in a school setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and agencies.
• Strong understanding of attendance processes and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to analyse attendance data and inform targeted interventions.
• Passion and resilience to improve outcomes for students.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance data and identify trends to inform interventions.
• Support intervention strategies with students, families and external agencies.
• Conduct home visits when required to identify barriers to attendance.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers to improve outcomes.
