Job summary

John Smeaton Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our pastoral team. This key role focuses on promoting excellent attendance and punctuality, ensuring every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work with students, families, pastoral leaders and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance, monitor data, and implement interventions in a proactive, compassionate manner for improved outcomes within The GORSE

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people to remove barriers to success in a secondary setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationships with students, families and agencies.
• Strong understanding of attendance processes and safeguarding affecting attendance.
• Ability to analyse attendance data to inform targeted interventions.
• Passion and resilience to improve outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance data and support intervention strategies.
• Conduct home visits when required.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers to improve outcomes.
• Collaborate with students, families, pastoral leaders and external agencies.
• Promote excellent attendance and punctuality across the academy.
