John Moores Students' Union in Liverpool seeks an independent, confidential adviser to support LJMU students with options and university procedures, including appeals, complaints, disciplinary matters and mitigating circumstances. You will manage your own caseload and guide students through formal processes.
You will develop clear guidance and resources, identify recurring themes to improve services, and work flexibly with evenings and weekends occasionally to meet demand.
You'll provide independent, confidential advice to LJMU students, helping them understand their options and navigate university procedures including appeals, complaints, disciplinary matters and mitigating circumstances. You'll also support students experiencing complex or sensitive situations, making sure they are connected with the right specialist support where needed. You'll manage your own caseload, support students through formal processes, develop useful guidance and resources, and identify themes from casework that can help improve services and strengthen the student voice.
Previous experience in higher education, a Students' Union or an advice setting is useful, but isn't essential.
This is a part-time role averaging 21 hours per week. We work flexibly but are open to discussion about work patterns. Please note you will be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion to meet the needs of the service.
