Chartered Structural Surveyor - Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Chartered Structural Surveyor to carry out surveys across Exeter. The role is home-based within the Exeter area. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer with defect diagnosis experience, conducting a range of Structural Surveys using innovative technology.

The successful candidate will work for a company operating across the UK, specializing in Structural Inspections supported by a Structural Design team. The role involves field-based structural inspections utilizing new digital technology on various Residential, Commercial, and Historic Buildings.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with sales staff to plan survey delivery
• Inspect all types of buildings and structures
• Prepare digital reports live on site
• Draft specifications for remedial works
• Provide technical support for Buildings Insurance claims
• Assess subsidence, fire, and storm damage
• Report to the Director and provide progress updates
• Develop new ideas and solutions
• Utilize the latest software tools

Requirements

• Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (1+ years or higher)
• Experience in structural surveys and design of buildings
• Proficiency in IT systems and software such as AutoCAD and TEDDS
• Good understanding of building materials including steel, masonry, concrete, and timber
• Membership with MICE or MIStructE
• Passion for new technologies, progressive change, and continuous improvement
• Own a car and hold a UK driving license; ability to travel to sites
