Job summary

Novax Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced Technical Coordinator for structural steelwork in Barnsley.

You will coordinate drawing office activities, manage internal and external drafting resources, and ensure BIM models and construction drawings meet project requirements from office through fabrication and erection. The role requires at least 5 years in structural steelwork, strong Tekla Structures expertise, and a solid BIM and coordination background.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience within the structural steelwork industry.
• Minimum 5 years' experience using Tekla Structures.
• Experience coordinating drawing office activities, technical teams or multiple structural steelwork projects.
• Strong understanding of BIM processes, technical drawings and design coordination.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Confident managing multiple priorities, resources and project deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, liaising with clients, project teams and external subcontractors.
• BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent construction qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical project activities to align drawing office output with project requirements, fabrication schedules and site delivery programmes.
• Review client design information and drawings for accurate structural modelling; raise RFIs when needed.
• Coordinate drawing office activities and manage drafting resources.
• Oversee design changes, variations and technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review BIM requirements and ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Manage external sub-contractors and coordinate their contributions.
• Work with Project Managers to set phasing, lotting sequences and delivery priorities.
• Monitor drawing and fabrication schedules to meet targets and site dates.
• Attend design team and progress meetings; prepare weekly progress reports.
• Balance project demands while maintaining quality and programme deadlines.
