Job summary

Sunblink is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support commercial management on structural steelwork projects. You will oversee costs, valuations, variations and final accounts, while coordinating with clients, contractors and site teams.

The role requires experience in subcontracting environments, strong numerical and negotiation skills, and the ability to interpret drawings and contracts. Hybrid working with a well-established team awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within structural steelwork, steel fabrication or related subcontracting business.
• Understanding of subcontractor commercial management: valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts.
• Experience monitoring project costs, budgets, and identifying commercial risks.
• Ability to interpret project information, drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of allocated projects, ensuring costs, revenue and margins are monitored effectively.
• Prepare, submit and manage applications for payment, valuations and variations.
• Measure, assess and price variations, ensuring changes to project scope are captured and commercially agreed.
• Monitor project costs against budgets, identifying risks, discrepancies and opportunities to protect profitability.
• Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, including reviewing quotations, placing orders and administering subcontract agreements.
• Prepare and agree subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Liaise with clients, main contractors, project managers, site teams, suppliers and subcontractors to resolve commercial issues.
• Maintain accurate commercial records, cost reports and project documentation.
• Assist with forecasting, cash flow management and regular commercial reporting.
• Identify potential commercial risks and opportunities, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Work closely with the estimating, contracts and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered within agreed commercial parameters.
• Support the preparation, negotiation and agreement of final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
