Job summary

Barker Ross is recruiting a metal fabricator in Leicester to fabricate, prepare, shape, align and assemble steel plate and structural metalwork before and during welding.

Typical duties include interpreting drawings, measuring and marking out, cutting steel, using burners, grinders, drills, guillotines and plate machines, forming and bending plate, setting up components, tack welding, and checking dimensions to ensure the finished fabrication meets specifications.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Measuring, marking out and cutting steel plate.
• Using tools and machinery such as burners, grinders, drills, guillotines and plate machines.
• Forming and bending plate to the required shape.
• Setting up components and using tack welding to hold them in position.
• Checking dimensions, angles, levels and alignment.
• Fitting plates, stiffeners, brackets, frames and other components.
• Preparing work for welders or carrying out welding if qualified.

My client based in Leicester requires a metal fabricator, also adept in skilled plating our ideal candidate needs to fabricate prepare, shape, align, and assemble steel plate and structural metalwork before and during welding.

Typical duties include:

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Measuring, marking out and cutting steel plate.
• Using tools and machinery such as burners, grinders, drills, guillotines and plate machines.
• Forming and bending plate to the required shape.
• Setting up components and using tack welding to hold them in position.
• Checking dimensions, angles, levels and alignment.
• Fitting plates, stiffeners, brackets, frames and other components.
• Preparing work for welders or carrying out welding if qualified.
• Correcting distortion and ensuring the finished fabrication meets specifications.
