Job summary

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Stroke SLT team in Leeds. You will work across the stroke pathway with adults with complex communication and swallowing needs, providing autonomous clinical care within a multidisciplinary setting.

• HCPC registered with relevant postgraduate clinical experience.
• Passionate about stroke rehabilitation and improving patient outcomes.
• Skilled in assessing and managing adults with communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Confident in managing a varied caseload and prioritising workload effectively.
• Able to work autonomously while contributing positively to multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Committed to evidence-based practice and continuing professional development.
• Enthusiastic about supporting students, junior staff and wider workforce development.
• Strong communicator adaptable for patients, carers and colleagues.
• Flexible, resilient and motivated to work in a busy clinical environment.
• Interested in service development and quality improvement for stroke services.

Responsibilities

• Work across the stroke pathway, supporting adults with complex communication and swallowing difficulties throughout rehabilitation.
• Collaborate with therapists, nurses and medical staff to deliver high-quality stroke care.
• Develop specialist skills in dysphagia and communication disorders and contribute to service development.
• Support learning of students and junior colleagues and participate in quality improvement projects.
