Job summary

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to consolidate expertise in swallowing and communication impairments across acute and stroke pathways. You will provide specialist assessment and treatment for adults in the inpatient setting, with opportunities to develop videofluoroscopy and tracheostomy competencies within a supportive MDT.

Qualifications

Must be a qualified SLT with HCPC registration and eligible for NHS practice.
Experience in dysphagia and adult communication disorders is essential.
Desirable: Registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Responsibilities

Independently manage a caseload of adults with swallowing and communication disorders on inpatient wards.
Assess, differential diagnose and treat patients across pathways with MDT support as needed.
Contribute to service development and specialist clinical pathways.
Deliver training to SLT colleagues, the MDT and students within Barts Health NHS Trust.
Participate in CPD through internal and external courses, including videofluoroscopy and tracheostomy.
Collaborate with inpatient and community teams to optimise patient experience.
Supervise Band 5 SLTs and SLT assistants as required.
