Job summary

Apple Recruitment is seeking a Street Works Coordinator for a Belfast-based organisation. You will oversee street works notices, registrations and permits, ensuring timely processing and regulatory compliance.

You will coordinate across government departments, utility providers and contractors, lead a Customer Advisor, and drive continuous improvements in street works management and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience coordinating street works using Symology and processing permit applications through the DFI Permit Application System.
  • Sound knowledge of the legislative framework governing street works in Northern Ireland.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all street works notices, registrations and closures within required timescales using relevant street works systems.
  • Submit and coordinate permit applications, early starts, variations, modifications and traffic management arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant street works legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and update systems in line with agreed service standards and KPIs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government departments, utility providers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Line manage and support a Customer Advisor, including coaching and performance management.

Street Works Coordinator

Location: Belfast
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 37 hours per week

Working Hours:
  • Monday to Thursday: 8.30am - 5.00pm
  • Friday: 8.30am - 4.30pm
  • One late shift per week (Monday to Thursday), 10.30am - 7.00pm on a rota basis

Salary: £28,500 per annum

Apple Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a Street Works Coordinator on behalf of a well-established and highly respected organisation based in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Street Works professional to join a busy Customer Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating street works activities, managing noticing and permit applications, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and acting as a key liaison between internal teams, contractors and
external stakeholders.

The role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in supporting infrastructure projects while ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient service delivery.

The Role

The Street Works Coordinator will oversee street works noticing and permit processes, ensuring all activities are completed within required timescales and in accordance with legislative requirements.

The successful candidate will coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders, support continuous improvement initiatives and provide leadership to a Customer Advisor within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all street works notices, registrations and closures within required timescales using relevant street works systems.
  • Submit and coordinate permit applications, early starts, variations, modifications and traffic management arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant street works legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and update systems in line with agreed service standards and KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with government departments, utility providers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate street works activities across internal departments and external delivery partners.
  • Line manage and support a Customer Advisor, including coaching, performance management and development planning.
  • Support the implementation of new systems, processes and operational improvements.Produce management reports on street works performance and compliance.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of procedures and best practice standards.
  • Provide support and cover across other areas of Customer Services as required
  • Champion customer-focused service delivery and support vulnerability awareness initiatives.
Essential Criteria
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths at Grade C or above.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience coordinating street works using Symology and processing permit applications through the DFI Permit Application System.
  • Sound knowledge of the legislative framework governing street works in Northern Ireland.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and meet challenging deadlines.
Desirable Criteria
  • Street Works or Traffic Management qualification.
  • Experience working within utilities, infrastructure or the energy sector.
  • Experience within a planning and scheduling environment.
  • Knowledge of Aurora or similar street works management systems.
  • Previous experience coaching, supporting or supervising colleagues.
