Job summary

Connect2Luton are recruiting a Street Cleansing Supervisor for Luton Borough Council. You will supervise a team, allocate tasks, and ensure high-quality public spaces are clean, safe and accessible, with emphasis on safety, efficiency and budget adherence.

You will monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, investigate complaints, liaise with stakeholders, and maintain records of vehicles and staff. The role requires driving and occasional out-of-hours availability.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a large team in a public or municipal setting.
• Strong ability to interpret data and produce basic statistics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive and able to use initiative within defined procedures.
• Recognises discrimination and takes appropriate action in service delivery or workplace.
• Familiarity with Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 (COSHH).
• Hold a full driving licence to transport staff and equipment to sites.
• Available to be called out in emergencies outside normal hours (frequency 1/month).

Responsibilities

• Supervise and allocate workload to street cleansing staff and external contractors.
• Monitor health and safety provisions and take corrective actions.
• Investigate customer complaints and resolve issues following defined procedures.
• Maintain records and perform site visits (announced and unannounced).
• Provide quotations for additional works when required.
• Prepare and present reports to management and stakeholders.
