Job summary

Luton Borough Council, partnered with Connect2Luton, seeks a Street Cleansing Supervisor. You will lead labour, equipment and resources to deliver high-quality public spaces that are clean, safe and accessible, aligning with standards, budgets and safety regulations.

You will supervise staff, coordinate workloads, monitor performance and liaise with external contractors and stakeholders to ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery across sites.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of day-to-day supervision of a large number of employees.
• Numerical skills to interpret data and produce statistics.
• Excellent communication skills with a wide range of people.
• Ability to prioritise and organise workloads to meet conflicting demands.
• Ability to use own initiative within defined procedures.
• Ability to identify discrimination in service delivery or workplace and act.
• Hold a full driving licence to transport staff and equipment.
• Willingness to be on-call for emergencies outside normal hours (1/month).
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and related acts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees, plan, prioritise and allocate workloads.
• Negotiate with stakeholders and influence senior staff on actions.
• Carry out site visits to monitor work and compliance with safety rules.
• Respond to customer complaints and resolve issues at the site.
• Provide quotations for additional works when required.
• Maintain manual and computerised management information systems.
• Prepare and present complex reports and presentations for audiences.
• Monitor driver, operator and vehicle records and liaise with Fleet.
