Job summary

Luton Borough Council is seeking a Supervisor - Street Cleansing to lead and support our street cleansing teams, ensuring safe, clean and well-maintained streets across the borough.

You will organise workloads, monitor staff, vehicles and equipment, respond to service requests and prepare clear performance reports. A full driving licence is essential, and you will travel between sites and respond to occasional emergencies.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience or a relevant management qualification.

Are you an experienced supervisor with a passion for delivering high-quality environmental services? We're looking for a proactive Supervisor - Street Cleansing to lead and support our operational teams, ensuring our streets are clean, safe and well maintained for everyone in the community. In this role, you'll organise and monitor the effective use of staff, vehicles and equipment to deliver an efficient, safe and cost-effective street cleansing service. You'll also respond to service requests and customer enquiries, investigating issues and ensuring they are resolved to a high standard. We're looking for someone with strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills, who can produce clear reports, interpret performance data and build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors and members of the public. You'll have a good understanding of key environmental, health and safety and transport legislation, alongside practical knowledge of street cleansing operations and cleaning practices. With supervisory experience or a relevant management qualification, you'll be a proactive leader who promotes equality, takes pride in delivering excellent services and is committed to maintaining high standards.
