Job summary

M&G in London or Stirling is seeking a Category Specialist to provide UK commercial and analytical support to Category Managers. You will build evidence for category strategy, savings, and negotiation, and collaborate with the India Procurement team on execution at scale.

The role focuses on spend analysis, supplier negotiations, and data driven insights using Power BI and eSourcing tools. You will engage stakeholders, manage renewals, and help deliver the category savings plan while upholding

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement, sourcing or category support, ideally within indirect spend.
• Working knowledge of the assigned category, or a closely comparable spend area.
• Strong analytical skills, including spend analysis, rate card comparison and total cost of ownership modelling, with advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Find savings opportunities through spend analysis, such as price variance, fragmented suppliers, off-contract spend, unused licences and auto-renewals.
• Analyse spend, compare rate cards, and model bids, prices and total cost of ownership.
• Run sourcing events that require UK stakeholder involvement and manage timelines, clarifications and audit trails.
• Coordinate supplier reviews, track performance data and follow up commercial actions.
• Track renewal and notice dates and contract obligations to create competitive tension.
• Use spend cubes, Power BI and AI-assisted analysis to build insights for the Category Manager.
