Job summary

Hackney New Primary School is seeking an experienced SENCO to lead strategic development and day‑to‑day SEN provision. You will work under the Headteacher to guide colleagues and collaborate with families and external agencies.

The role combines strategic leadership with potential direct teaching within a school provision, in a Trust environment that values continuous professional development and strong partnerships with parents and professionals. Occasional FLX options may apply.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status and degree required; NPQ SENCO preferred or willingness to complete within 3 years.
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with SEND experience.
• Experience at whole-school level, including self-evaluation and development planning, with ability to train or lead INSET.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic development, implementation, monitoring and review of SEN policy across the school.
• Oversee day-to-day SEN policy operations, maintain SEND register and provision map, coordinate targeted provision.
• Provide guidance on graduated approach, inclusive teaching and interventions using assessment data for planning.
• Collaborate with parents, early years providers, schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and local authorities.
• Lead staff development and INSET, manage teaching assistants working with pupils with SEN or disability.
