Job summary

Princes Limited is seeking an experienced SENCO to strategically develop SEND policy and oversee provision across the school. You will monitor impact, lead interventions, and ensure policy implementation aligns with the school improvement plan.

You will collaborate with external agencies, ARP leadership, and staff to promote inclusive practice, manage resources, and support pupil progress under the Equality Act 2010.

Responsibilities

• Have a strategic overview of provision for pupils with SEND, across the school.
• Monitor and review the quality of provision in line with the school values.
• Contribute to school self-evaluation, focusing on SEND.
• Ensure the SEND policies are implemented and reflected in the school improvement plan.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives affecting policies and practice.
• Evaluate the impact of intervention and inclusion funding and propose changes to use funding more effectively.
• Operate SEND policies and coordinate provision across the school.
• Maintain an accurate SEND and CLA register and provision maps.
• Provide guidance to colleagues on teaching SEND pupils.
• Ensure effective use of the school budget and resources to meet pupils' needs, including staff deployment.
• Manage opportunities for provision in the local offer.
• Work with other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and external agencies.
• Be a key contact for external agencies and for parents and carers.
• Analyse assessment data for specific pupil groups and hold teachers to account.
• Lead intervention groups for SEND pupils and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Work with other SENCOs across the Trust to share best practice.
• Identify a pupil's SEND and coordinate provision to meet needs.
• Secure relevant services for pupils and maintain records.
• Review EHC plans with parents and pupils and ensure smooth transitions.
• Promote inclusion in the school community and access to curriculum and activities.
• Monitor progress of SEND, CLA and PP pupils and interpret data.
• Undertake a teaching commitment of 2 days per week delivering high-quality inclusive practice.
• Work with Headteacher and governors on Equality Act 2010 compliance and reasonable adjustments.
• Prepare and review information for the governing board.
• Contribute to the school improvement plan and whole-school policy.
• Identify staff training needs and how to meet them, lead INSETs.
• Hold teachers to account for statutory duties to pupils with special or inclusive needs including progress.
• Promote an ethos that supports SEND policies and outcomes for all pupils.
• Champion an inclusive culture where every child is valued and supported to succeed.
• Safeguard and promote welfare of children and young people and follow school policies.
• Collaborate with Head of ARP to coordinate SEND across the school and develop practice across ARP provision.
