Job summary

Cowes Enterprise College, An Ormiston Academy, is seeking a SENCo to lead inclusion and SEND, ensuring every student with additional needs is known, understood and supported to flourish within a high‑challenge, low‑threat, fully inclusive environment.

You will lead a dedicated team, guide the graduated approach, deliver staff training, shape SEND policy with the Principal and Trust, and build strong partnerships with external agencies to raise achievement for all students.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status and a degree, with Accredited SENDCo qualification (or commitment to achieving it).
• Extensive secondary teaching and leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, EHCP process and supporting students with complex SEMH and other SEND needs.
• Experience leading and developing teams, including teaching assistants, and building partnerships with external agencies.
• Passionate commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people, with emotional intelligence, resilience and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic inclusion and SEND for the college.
• Guide the graduated approach and lead staff training.
• Be the go-to expert for colleagues on SEND issues.
• Shape SEND policy with the Principal and Trust.
• Maintain forefront of best practice to help every student achieve their best.
