Job summary

Herefordshire Council, within the Education, Skills and Learning Service, seeks a School Improvement Advisor to contribute to the performance and strategic management of education in Herefordshire. You will help strengthen school governance and drive a self-improving system across the county to improve outcomes for children and young people.

You will lead on safeguarding, work with Heads of Service to support LA maintained schools, and engage in a traded service for school improvement while

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with experience delivering and coordinating school improvement activities in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record of leading improvements and supporting more than one school.
• Safeguarding of children and young people is taken seriously; DBS check will be undertaken for successful applicants.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to strengthen governance of schools in the county.
• Provide challenge to all schools to develop a self-improving school system.
• Ensure statutory responsibilities concerning performance of all schools/settings are met.
• Monitor, support and provide challenge to LA maintained schools where a need is identified.
• Provide a traded service for school improvement within the county.
• Oversee and quality assure standards in alternative provision and specialist settings.
• Ensure all children receive full-time education under section 19 of the Education Act.
