Job summary

Supply Heroes is recruiting for a Good-rated Primary School in Birmingham (B12) to appoint an experienced School Business Manager (SBM) for a full-time, long-term assignment with potential permanency from the 2026 academic year.

The role covers financial operations, procurement, HR administration and compliance, reporting to the Headteacher and working with governors and external stakeholders to maximise pupil outcomes. Immediate start and long-term continuity are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Recognised SBM qualification or equivalent.
• Experience as SBM in a UK school.
• Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
• Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of school finance systems and statutory compliance.
• Experience HR administration and operational functions.
• Ability to work with senior leaders, governors and external stakeholders.
• Proactive, professional and solution-focused.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing the school's financial operations and budget management.
• Overseeing procurement, contracts and purchasing processes.
• Managing HR administration and supporting recruitment processes.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and school policies.
• Supporting the Headteacher and SLT with strategic planning.
• Managing administrative support functions and office operations.
• Overseeing health and safety, premises and facilities management.
• Producing financial reports and monitoring expenditure.
• Managing external service providers and supplier relationships.
