Job summary

Itec Training Solutions Limited in Cardiff is seeking a Safeguarding Lead Coordinator to develop and promote a robust safeguarding culture across all provisions. You will lead safeguarding, prevent and child protection matters and support staff with concerns.

You will update policies to statutory guidance, manage risk assessments, train staff, and liaise with HR and external agencies. The role requires experience with GDPR, safeguarding procedures, and multi-agency collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining relationships and liaison with outside agencies and multi-agency working.
• Experience creating and maintaining GDPR compliant digital safeguarding records.
• Experience with safeguarding and prevent procedures and reporting.
• Currently qualified as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or held a previously accredited safeguarding qualification.
• Recent safeguarding and prevent update training.
• Understanding of relevant legislation, policy, guidance and good safeguarding practice.
• An understanding of issues affecting young people and vulnerable adults.
• Problem solving skills to ensure the best outcomes for learners.
• Experience working with young people in difficulty and crisis.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to interpret legislative, policy, and guidance documents in safeguarding and prevent.
• Excellent IT skills, with the ability to write concise summary reports.
• Confidentiality in handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Developing and promoting a safeguarding culture across provisions.
• Lead responsibility for safeguarding, prevent and child protection matters and staff support.
• Keep safeguarding and prevent policies up to date with statutory guidance.
• Create and maintain Prevent risk assessments aligned with updates.
• Provide training and awareness sessions for staff and volunteers.
• Liaise with HR to identify training needs on safeguarding and prevent.
• Act as first point of contact for safeguarding, welfare and prevent matters.
• Maintain detailed, accurate safeguarding records and support others to do so.
• Ensure reporting systems for safeguarding and well-being are in place and records transferred when learners move.
• Ensure staff refer to external agencies when required and document referrals.
