Job summary

Devon County Council seeks a Lead for Education Safeguarding to champion safeguarding across education and Children’s Social Care. You will work within multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, guiding schools, colleges and providers to uphold statutory duties and keep children safe.

The role demands strategic leadership, strong communication and the ability to influence at all levels across Inclusion & Learning and CSC partners.

Qualifications

Significant experience safeguarding within education or Children’s Services.
Strong leadership and partnership-building skills.
Deep understanding of relevant safeguarding frameworks and guidance.
Ability to influence at all levels and provide professional challenge.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership on safeguarding in education across Devon.
Support and challenge schools to meet statutory safeguarding duties.
Represent education in multi-agency safeguarding forums and panels.
Lead on safeguarding audits, training, and policy development.
Offer expert advice on complex safeguarding cases, complaints and allegations management.
Develop interagency relationships and advocate for school and child educational voices.
Embed information sharing and use CSC data to inform safeguarding priorities.
Deliver joint local authority training with partners such as Devon Social Work Academy.
Navigate CSC systems and guide DSLs in referrals and CSC responses.
