Job summary

Breath HR is seeking a dedicated Designated Safeguarding Officer for our Cardiff-based partner, focusing on safeguarding awareness and timely incident response. The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, escalation, and close collaboration with safeguarding leadership.

The post requires strong case management skills, training delivery, and ongoing engagement with programme teams to embed safeguarding in all activities across the Foundation.

Responsibilities

• Act as a designated contact for safeguarding concerns; respond promptly and record on the safeguarding system.
• Escalate medium/high-risk concerns to Head of Safeguarding and Compliance; refer to statutory agencies when required.
• Provide day-to-day safeguarding advice to staff; support disclosures and incidents.
• Support safeguarding supervision for staff managing ongoing concerns; identify escalation needs.
• Help identify and manage safeguarding risks in activities and risk assessments.
• Assist with allegations or concerns about staff, volunteers, or adults working with participants.
• Support Safer Recruitment checks and DBS monitoring.
• Help identify safeguarding training needs and promote a safeguarding culture.
• Develop safeguarding campaigns; create accessible resources for learners, parents, staff.
• Engage with partner organisations; attend multi-agency meetings; share safeguarding information.
• Contribute to audits, learnings, and safeguarding governance; ensure actions are completed.
